We are an integral part of the renewable energy ecosystem. Our strategy is focused on providing diagnostic insights at the right scale across the entire renewable energy ecosystem to develop an optimised end-to-end commercial approach for our stakeholders. We partner with selected technology suppliers to ‘right size’ the solution to the problem, encapsulating the current and future needs of our clients to deliver a cost optimal renewable energy system.
Khype has a unique value offering in the global renewable arena. With the increasing adoption of renewable sources, energy storage is a critical component to ensure that an efficient and sustainable energy supply is delivered to the point of need on demand, in the most commercially advantageous manner and with a predictable dispatch profile. We understand the complex dynamics of the energy systems and storage integration ecosystem and have developed models with a novel approach to determine the cost of valued energy and storage, to ensure fastidious dispatch certainty, optimized return on investment and long-term project sustainability.
Our LDES technology strategy is both forward looking and flexible to deliver a tailored solution to suit specific needs. We offer two approaches, one being technology agnostic, deploying best-in-class battery technology or alternatively introducing clients to a game changing patented storage liquid technology through our partners which will revolutionize energy storage on a footprint that is small, deployable almost anywhere and with virtually zero environmental impact.
Khype’s digital platform is a key innovation which provides a set of cutting-edge functionalities that are way beyond those currently available to meticulously size long duration storage energy storage requirements. We have developed a unique, different thinking predictive modelling approach to optimize the allocation, storage and supply of energy to specific defined demand profiles.
Our soon to be patented platform (Khype IP Platform – KIPP) uses proprietary AI and ML algorithms to capture critical diagnostic analyses to seamlessly tailor renewable energy generation and LDES capacity to our clients’ precise needs. This enables us to cleverly reduce energy wastage due to ever increasing RE oversupply events and intelligently optimise LDES requirements to unlock energy cost optimally and sustainably. Our platform additionally incorporates an energy and diagnostic optimisation system (eDOS) which forms the commercial framework for assessing all battery technologies across the entire project life, underpinning resilient project valuation assessments for bankable, feasibility studies and forms a ‘plug and play’ functionality into our client’s energy management system.

The material impact of using the wrong inputs into LCOE and LCOS calculations are profound!
Increased upfront project costs, escalating forecast costs over the expected life, and materially higher running costs all impacting the project’s cash flow contribution calculations and profit margins, yielding an underperforming project. By “over smoothing” these calculations over the project life, there is a real risk of energy supply shortfalls.

What is wrong with the current way of calculating levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and levelized cost of storage (LCOS); and how does it influence project outcomes?
LCOE and LCOS
LCOE and LCOS are intertwined and cannot be simply added together to generate an outcome. Each requires careful understanding and analysis on their relationship and overall commercial strategy and how one benefits the other, to create a new energy supply product in the renewables sector.
Lithium-ion storage
Presently, in majority of cases, only lithium-ion storage solutions are modelled which constrains the technical and commercial success. There are numerous other viable technology alternatives that can often provide superior technical and commercial solutions.
Current models
Current models use and oversimplify top-down analysis of the generation profile for renewables, which creates problems meeting commercial commitments down the track as this method over smooths the generation. It is important to break the input down as far as practicable to gain a clear understanding of the generation profile and this dictates the required storage to meet the energy delivery commitments.
